Matt Loughlin
My name is Matt Loughlin; I'm 25 years old and live In Bedford, England. I earn my living as an Internet Marketing Consultant specialising in PPC advertising and Competitive Intelligence. In my free time, I enjoy various sports including Football, Badminton and Cycling, although I'm not quite up to Olympic standard yet!
I left the University of East Anglia in 2005 with a Bsc (hons) in Business Management. I spent three fantastic years at university in Norwich and although I enjoy working, I have recently completed a web design course at college to further my technical knowledge and quench my thirst for further education.
Before my 'new' life as an Internet Marketing consultant I used to work for a precision engineering company now known as Motion and Bearing Technologies Limited. The company
deals with Linear Guideways and other linear motion products such
as Linear Ball Bushings and precision rolled and ground Ballscrews and other components for civil and OEM markets. This was a world away from what i do now but whilst I love
my new career I do still miss the engineering days and everything I
learnt from the highly skillful engineers.
My main interest is travelling and visiting new places. I have been travelling twice, firstly around North America in 2006 and most recently around the world starting in Thailand, working my way through south-east Asia onto Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the US before returning home. I would highly recommend travelling to anyone, the experience is truly amazing and is without a doubt the best decision I've ever made.
Ireland was the last big tour, undertaken in October 2008 with recent trips to Germany and some sailing in Spain helping to cure my itchy feet! To relax I enjoy reading good books, most recently the star of the sea by Joseph O'Connor although my favourite book of all time is the Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
Those who know me know I love my music, and all genres at that. Whilst I love listening to music on my laptop, in my car and on my iPod, I don't get to as many gigs as I used to, the last being Fight Like Apes in Birmingham and in Munich, strangely.
I am a keen follower of the Hammers and regular fantasy football champion. Amongst the many trophies I have won for my football skills, the latest was for my Premier League Tips, correctly predicting more than the fellow competing football fans.
The most important thing in my life is my family and friends. I have a large, extended family and have always been around many people which has made me value those around me. I'm by and large, a very positive person, I'm always looking ahead and trying to better myself. I believe in myself and I believe that without challenge there can be no achievement.
